Senior Mechanical Engineer
BGI is seeking a senior mechanical engineer. This candidate will participate in mechanical engineering design, development, and production support for an airship program. The individual will be assigned varied tasks with direction from a senior lead engineer. The candidate will be responsible for assisting engineers in the support and development of airship systems , working with subsystem specialists to coordinate and conduct feasibility studies and perform trade analyses, prepare briefing materials and present results at internal reviews.
Candidate will perform various duties:
developing electronic package designs;
investigating design factors such as equipment or part availability, manufacturability, ease of assembly, weight and cost
evaluating vendor designs
developing and maintaining all assembly and test documentation
trouble shooting and correcting anomalies and discrepant hardware
Successful candidate will also participate in failure investigation teams
Education, License, Credential Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Aeronautical, or similar Engineering, from an accredited college or equivalent education and experience.
Course work should include basic Mechanical Engineering fundamentals.
Candidate should have knowledge of machining, casting, molds, composite materials, connectors, epoxies, adhesives, and other fabrication methods and materials.
Experience using 2D and 3D modeling CAD tools is preferred.

Excellent written and verbal communications skills
Ability to work in a flexible and dynamic team environment
Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications required.
Understanding and ability to apply basic Mechanical Engineering principles, theories and concepts with a solid math and science background
Knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T)
Fluency in mechanical modeling and analysis tools
Missile/aerospace related education/exposure preferred
Fundamental understanding of structures and materials
Training in Finite Element Analysis, and/or Computational Fluid Dynamics preferred
