Phil Dismukes founded BGI in 1994. His vision of supporting “end user customer requirements” by investing the time and effort of operationally experienced personnel in industry products early in the engineering development cycle remains the backbone of the original business model. In 2001, Phil reorganized BGI as a partnership with Dave, Eric, and Chris bringing together a small business Service Academy graduate leadership team unmatched in industry. The integration of Operational expertise and Engineering capabilities led to our two Sector company; Training and Technical Services & Engineering and Products. Phil graduated from the U.S. Air Force Academy with a BS in Engineering and is a graduate of the USAF Fighter Weapons School Instructor Course. Recently retired at the rank of Lieutenant Colonel, he flew the F-16 throughout his 23+ years of Air Force and Air National Guard service. He also has combat experience in Operations Desert Storm, Southern Watch, and Northern Watch. As the Chief Executive Officer of BGI, Phil uses his combination of military leadership and industry experience to oversee the company’s long term business strategy, act as a “Point Man” to customers and employees, and promote a successful and rewarding workplace for the employees of BGI. Phil challenges all his employees to accomplish the BGI core purpose and live out the company core values. He is a member of the Business Executives for National Security (BENS) organization, serves as a “GetHeadStrong” Project Committee member and is on the Board of Directors for AIRLAND Aerospace, AIRLAND Battle Group and Quadrant Training Solutions, LLC.
Dave Devol joined BGI in 1998 as an operational analyst in support of multiple training and technical projects. He graduated from the U.S. Air Force Academy with a BS in Astronautical Engineering and did graduate work at the Georgia Institute of Technology in Mechanical Engineering. He is an instructor and flight examiner with over 5,000 flight hours, including more than 2,000 hours in the F-16 aircraft. He has combat experience in Operations Desert Storm, Southern and Northern Watch, and Operation Iraqi Freedom. His military career also included Forward Air Control experience in the O-2 and OV-10 aircraft, and spanned a wide range of operational leadership positions. He recently retired from the Air National Guard as a Lieutenant Colonel after more than 23 years of combined active duty and reserve service. Since joining BGI, Dave has co-authored several industry papers, and has served as a member of two I/ITSEC sub-committees: Education and Simulation. As company President, he maintains responsibility for refining our products, services and processes as well as the shaping of new business pursuits.
Chris Owens joined BGI in 2000 where he used his experience in computer-based training to expand BGI’s services beyond the simulation industry. He graduated from the U.S. Naval Academy with a BS in Computer Science and is a graduate of the U.S. Navy Fighter Weapons School (TOPGUN). He has over 3,200 flight hours with more than 1,300 hours in the F/A-18C as well as major airline experience. His combat experience includes missions in Bosnia Herzegovina, Iraq and Somalia. As an instructor pilot, he was involved in all aspects of F/A-18 tactical training, including flight and simulator events in support of the SFWT and NSAWC Airwing Training programs. As Chief Operations Officer for BGI, he is responsible for all day-to-day company operations, and has been the driving force in the implementation of key technologies that enhance our internal processes and customer service. Chris is the Vice President of the USNA-89 Alumni Association.
Eric Dodson joined BGI in 1995 as an operational analyst focusing primarily in detailed training and technical simulation projects, many of which were developed for foreign air forces under DoD Foreign Military Sales programs. He graduated from the U.S. Air Force Academy with a BS in Aeronautical Engineering, and retired from the U.S. Air Force and South Carolina Air National Guard in 2001. Eric has over 5,000 flight hours including 1,500 hours in the F-16 aircraft as well as major airline experience. He has extensive combat experience and earned a Silver Star during Combat Search and Rescue operations in support of a downed airman during Operation Desert Storm. Eric became the Chief Financial Officer in 1999 and currently oversees the Finance and Human Resources departments. He is also a member of the Board of Directors for the Children’s Museum of Charleston, SC, and a local community event leader.
Chris Cross joined BGI in 1999 as an Operational Analyst, and has supported a variety of training device programs and managed several technical projects since that time. He graduated from the U.S. Naval Academy with a BS in Aerospace Engineering and recently retired from the U.S. Air Force Reserve after 20 years of combined service in the U.S. Navy and Air Force Reserve. He has over 3,000 flight hours in the F/A-18 and F-16 as an instructor pilot, flight examiner and test pilot. He has extensive combat experience, and earned a Purple Heart in 1996 during combat operations in Southwest Asia. As a Vice President, he is responsible for the leadership and daily program execution of our Engineering and Products Sector, as well as furthering research and development and business development strategies.
Corbin Hughes became an Operational Analyst with BGI in 1999 supporting U.S. Navy and Foreign Military Sales training and simulation programs. In 2002, he was promoted to Director where he used his in-depth industry knowledge to capture new markets and extend the company business profile into several new key areas. Today, Corbin serves as Vice President of BGI’s Training and Technical Services Business Sector overseeing several diverse divisions that provide solution-based training and services for both domestic and international customers. A graduate of Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University, Corbin received a Commission in the U.S. Navy through the Naval Aviation Cadet (NAVCAD) program. He has logged over 1,500 flight hours in the F/A-18, and is a graduate of the U.S. Navy Fighter Weapons School (TOPGUN). Corbin served a total of 24 years in the U.S. Navy in both active duty and reserve billets before recently retiring as a Commander.
