Senior Software Engineer

BGI is seeking a Senior Software Engineer. In this position you are a Senior Software Engineer, building high-performance libraries that interface to time-series data, manages the data and performs analysis.  As a craftsman who respects the trade, you recognize that other engineers and customers live with your decisions.  This makes a clean API, unquestioned accuracy and extremely high performance paramount.  You use good judgement to leverage latest technology and best practices in the community.  At the same time you take ownership of innovations that extend the envelope and create unique offerings for our customers.  You work with others to integrate your work into a technology stack, from desktop application up to enterprise Hadoop clusters.  Each day brings a new challenge and a new reward.  Your efforts create the tools that are needed to keep the airspace safe!

BGI supports our clients and their customers by creating technology to analyze, visualize and explore data.  Our community focuses on a robust collection of aircrew performance, training, and aircraft maintenance data, transforming it into the knowledge that aircrew and passengers are always flying safely.  Our user’s data exploration experience builds on a foundation of data collected from the aircraft and the operating environment, augmented with algorithms run at Big Data scale.  A suite of experimentation tools is being assembled, including server-side analytics in Hadoop, web application visualizations to present the data, and client-side tools for algorithm development.  Ultimately, algorithms in Hadoop are dispatched at the enterprise level to enhance the data foundation across all aircraft in the fleet.
